Early 1970s, oil on fibreboard, 80 x 100 cm, unsigned, unframed Literature: Alva Hajn, exhibition catalogue, Galerie Klatovy/Klenova, 1997; Nova encyklopedie ceskeho vytvarneho umeni (New Encyclopaedia of Czech Fine Art), Academia, Prague 1995, p.239 , Starting Price: CZK 25,000; USD 732; EUR 832, Estimated price: (30,000 - 35,000) CZK., With its dramatic abbreviation, harshly uncompromising stylisation and nervous handwriting this solitary, and after many years, finally righteously appreciated artist presents himself as a late heir of 1920s expressionism; reddish clouds, snake-like intertwining lines of windy trees, roofs of villages implied by simple triangles and the semicircle of the onion-dome of the cathedral tower - it is one of the most inspiring canvases by Alva Hajn inspired by his birth place and reproduced in the comprehensive catalogue of his posthumous exhibition (see Literature).
