TAVIK FRANTISEK SIMON 1877 Zeleznice u Jicina - 1942 Prague The Cycle of Etchings
1) A London Street 2) In the Shade of a Lamp 3) From Krakow 4) Combing Herself 5) Lady in a Fur 1905, 40 x 29.8 cm, a series of five etchings laid in a folder, on the inside inscribed no. 48, each sheet signed F. Simon, Paris 05, Literature: Nova encyklopedie ceskeho vytvarneho umeni (New Encyclopaedia of Czech Fine Arts), Academia, Prague 1995, p. 842. Jindrich Marco, O grafice (On Graphic), Mlada Fronta 1981, pp. 275, 276, Starting Price: CZK 28,000; USD 820; EUR 932 , Estimated price: (30,000 - 35,000) CZK., The Cycle originating in the early stage of the artist's stay in Paris (1904 - 1914) is characterized by exceptionally precise mastering of a chosen technique of graphical realization. The etchings catch the attention with their dreamy and misty decadent esprit, which is typical of the period climate both of French and Middle-European Art Nouveau. An edition of 50 cycles was printed.
