The German painter and draftsman Paul Kuhfuss initially trained as a drawing teacher at the Royal Art School in Berlin with Philipp Franck. He then completed studies at the Royal Academic University of Fine Arts Berlin-Charlottenburg in the landscape painting class. In 1911 he joined the “Association of Visual Artists”, in 1915 he became a member of the German Artists’ Association of the “Berlin North” artist association and in 1950 a member of the “Association of Berlin Artists”. Kuhfuss was an illustrator for several magazines. After he was denounced by a member of the artists' association “Berliner Norden” for “expressionist tendencies” and “resistance to National Socialist cultural propaganda” as well as for defending Jewish professional colleagues, he was no longer able to hold art exhibitions in Berlin. After the war, Kuhfuss stayed in the eastern part of the city. In 1945 he became a lecturer at the Berlin-Pankow Adult Education Center in 1960. He also led the “Act, Set and Costume Design” class at the Berlin Textile and Clothing School on Warschauer Straße. From 1912 to 1960, Kuhfuss took part in 173 exhibitions, in particular the Great Berlin Art Exhibitions (since 1913), exhibitions of the artist groups Freie Secession under the direction of Max Liebermann and Berlin Secession under the direction of Lovis, Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin, exhibitions of the German Artists' Association, the "Porza", the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR, the Association of Berlin Artists.
