Full description

Panonien, 1809. n.p. 1pl(s). (engraved frontispiece of Minerva before title)+16p., printed on blue paper.
Poems encouraging the Hungarian noble insurrection against Napoleon. Many motifs and turns of phrase resemble parts of Nemzeti dal – while not its direct source, Petőfi likely knew and read these verses. Born in Nuremberg, Köffinger received his medical doctorate in Pest in 1812, later becoming city and hospital physician in Buda, and a full member of the medical faculty in Pest.
20th-century hardpaper, with gilt red title vignette on front cover.
