Kolozsvár, 1834. Ifj. Tilsch János. (6)+346+(7)p. First edition.
The author was a prominent figure in the Transylvanian reform movement and a friend of Széchenyi and Wesselényi. He traveled to the United States with Count Pál Béldi in 1831 and published his travel experiences and observations on the functioning of American democracy for the first time.
The flyleaf bears a fantastic dedication: „Döbrentei Gábor barátjának Farkas Sándor” (To his friend Sándor Farkas from Gábor Döbrentei).
Dedications by the author are extremely rare, but this one is particularly special because of the person to whom it is addressed.
Contemporary cloth.
Provenance: With collection stamp of Károly Eötvös on title page and ex libris of Ferenc János Pál on front pastedown.
