Map of Austria and Hungary by Giacomo Gastaldi. Published in Antonio Lafreri’s atlas in Rome. The most striking of its cartographical mistakes are the strange depictions of lakes Balaton and Fertő and the double riverbed of the Tisza. In addition to the topographical elements, the engraver illustrated his work with trees and a fictional bird’s-eye view of the cities showing their size and shape. Dmensions: 290 x 420 mm. With some toning along centrefold.
