The Austrian artist Alfred Eichhorn studied art in Vienna and Linz under Berthold Löffler and Anton Faistauer. In 1932, he moved to Berlin and in 1944 to Stuttgart, where he met Willi Baumeister. He soon developed a close friendship with him, which had a strong influence on his work. From 1956, Eichhorn worked and lived in Munich. There he, like Baumeister, was a member of the group ZEN 49, previously called the Gruppe der Gegenstandslosen (Group of the Non-Figuratives), which was one of the most important abstract artist groups in Germany. Their goal was, among other things, to bring non-objective, abstract art closer to a broad audience. The founding members include Willi Baumeister, Rolf Cavael, Gerhard Fietz, Rupprecht Geiger, Willy Hempel, Brigitte Meier-Denninghoff and Fritz Winter. Eichhorn also founded Eidos Presse together with Willi Baumeister, which is known for its graphic editions. Further artists and styles: Berthold Löffler, Anton Faistauer, abstraction
PLEASE NOTE:
The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights. In the case of normal taxation (marked ° at the estimate), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax is added to the sum of the highest bid and the buyer's premium. This amounts to 13% for paintings, drawings, graphic works and sculptures and 20% for photographs and all other items.
The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
