Zsolnay Ornamental Jar with Lid
Wheel-thrown porcelain ware. On ivory-colour base, rooster and hen portrayal among embossed, contour-gilded peonies painted with high-fire coloured glazes. Flower decoration on handles, stylized tendril decoration on neck and lid. Map-cracked, mouth rim and rim of lid restored. Decoration design: Júlia Zsolnay. Marked on bottom: 563 (form number) pressed in clay and blue-painted family sign under glaze. Zsolnay, Pécs, 1882.
