Zsolnay Secession-style Ornamental Plate with Monitor Lizards
White ceramic, hollow cast shape, with embossed pattern and applied sculptural elements. Opaque, transparent and metallescent, belly painted with “labrador” blue eosin glazes, partially acid-treated. Fire-crack from factory on one of the lizards. Marked on bottom: Zsolnay Pécs and 5790 (form number, year 1900) pressed in clay, and round, stamp-like dot row branding painted with eosin.
