Zsolnay Pair of Hanging Plates with Moor-cocks
White ceramic cast in shape and shaped by hand. Moor-cocks with embossed pattern and matte surface painted with coloured glazes, on background painted with multi-layer, opaque and transparent, metallescent eosin glazes. Design: Sándor Apáti Abt, 1901. Tiny flaw on tail of one bird repaired. Marked on bottom: pressed in clay 6419 and 6420 (form number, year 1901) and embossed, round, stamp-like branding, and original paper etiquette from factory. Artist’s mark on rim of plate. Zsolnay, Pécs, 1901. Diameter: 36 cm
