A durhami püspök (Shute Barrington) védnöksége alatt készült kiadást először 1795-ben Joseph Dacre Carlyle (1759-1806), a cambridge-i arab nyelv professzora, 1801-ben pedig Newcastle plébánosa vállalta. Carlyle halála után Henry Ford, az oxfordi Lord Almoner arab szakos lektora vette át a munkát, és 1811-ben rendezte sajtó alá a könyvet. A szöveg az 1655-57-es londoni poliglotton alapul. Először kb. 2000 példány készült belőle, amelynek nagy részét a Brit és Külföldi Bibliatársaság finanszírozta. 22×26 cm.
Korabeli, keménytáblás, intarziás hatású, festett bőrkötésben, újabb vászongerinccel. Ritka.
