Pest, 1851. Edelmann Károly. 32p.+10pl(s).+2 folding appx(s).
The most beautiful decorative album of Lake Balaton, whose first edition appeared in 1848. Szerelmey opened his lithographic workshop in Pest in 1845, the first in Hungary to produce coloured lithographs. During the War of Independence he served as a honvéd officer and directed the press of the fortress of Komárom, before emigrating to London after the capitulation at Világos. With his album he contributed to stimulating the emerging interest in Lake Balaton. The lithographs, produced in the Pest workshop of Engel and Mandello, include the following views:
1. Füred. a Balaton reszirol – von der Seeseite (Füred, from the lake side)
2. Füred. Kilátás a Fürdőházból – Aussicht aus dem Badehause (Füred, view from the Bathhouse)
3. Tihany
4. Tátika
5. Rezi
6. Szigliget
7. Sümeg
8. Csobáncz
9. Az öböl és Badacson keleti része – Die Bucht und Ostseite von Badacson (The bay and the eastern part of Badacsony)
10. Az öböl és Badacson nyugati része – Die Bucht und Westseite von Badacson (The bay and the western part of Badacsony)
The fold-out inserts show a map of the lake and a longitudinal view of the northern shore.
Classicist style, contemporary silk binding, reinforced with leather on the spine. Inner edges gilt. The binding boards are decorated with beautiful floral motifs and a gold frame.
