Lázár János, Báró Gyalakuti: Okos teremtett állat: avagy a’ Teremtett dolgoknak szemlélésekböl a’ Teremtö Istenhez való felemelkedése az okos Léleknek... Mellyet a’ Teremtésnek rendi szerint Hétnapi Imádságokban szedett…
... és a’ Teremtö Istennek Ditséretire szentelt ~.
Kolosváratt, 1745. S. Pataki Jó’sef ny. (18)+122p.
The author was the most famous Transylvanian representative of late Baroque poetry. His main work, Florinda, is a love story written for women, which is sometimes spicy and risqué. His Latin poems were very popular, which earned him the nickname "Janus Pannonius of Transylvania" from his contemporaries. As president of the Transylvanian government, he played an inglorious role in the Madéfalva disaster. This work is a Reformed prayer book, which he compiled after the death of his child. It is extremely rare, and we have found no trace of it appearing at auction in the last half-century. The value of our copy is further enhanced by the dedication on the first page: „Nemzetes Komáromi Lajos Uram ö Kglme Szerelmes Házas Társának, Nemzetes Türi Margit Aszszonynak ö kglmének küldi az Author”. "The Author sends this to beloved wife of Komáromi Lajos, Margit Türi." It is interesting to note that a later owner—presumably a descendant of the recipient—wrote the following on the title page: "Madefalvi vér fürdö intezoje s vegrehajtoja" (Madefalvi blood bath initiator and executor).
