Rules of operation of the St. Michael Society of Sopron. Following the Reformation, the Catholic Convent was founded in 1625 in a town with a predominantly Protestant population, which contributed significantly to the preservation of Catholic religious life there. One of the tasks of the organization was to support the disadvantaged. In the 18th century, the members of the convent and wealthy citizens formed the St. Michael Society, which used annual membership fees to provide aid to the poor, medical treatment, medicines, and funeral expenses. Our piece may be one of the earliest records of the organization. This is also evidenced by the fact that Pope Benedict XIV approved their rules in 1753. They were printed in German at that time and then in Hungarian in 1757.
