Aranyozott kiadói egészvászon-kötésben. Katharina Prato (1818-1897) osztrák szakácskönyvíró. 1858-ban jelent meg a Die süddeutsche Küche c. műve, mely rendkívüli népszerűséget biztosított neki. 1957-ben jelent meg a 80. kiadása. 1857-ben ment férjhez egy volt katonatiszthez, aki súlyos gyomorbajban szenvedett. Bár gondosan ápolta, a férj hamar meghalt. Az ápolás során gyűjtött receptek adták az alapját a következő évben megjelent szakácskönyvének, mely komoly sikert aratott - a feleségek között.
