Full description

(Sztána, 1922 [1923]. Szerző.) (2)p.+31pl(s). (mostly hand-coloured, signed linocuts)+(8)p. First edition. “Printed at Sztána in the workshop of Károly Kós, 1923, in 200 copies.” This is no. 40.
An episode in early 20th-century Hungarian private press history. Kós, the polymath architect, writer, and graphic artist, played a central role in the cultural revival of Hungarians in Transylvania after Trianon. In connection with his work as a writer and graphic artist, he established a small workshop in his house in Sztána, where a total of three books were published: this was the first, followed by "Attila királról ének" (Song of King Attila) in 400 copies, and finally "Kaláka kalendárium 1925 esztendőre" (Kaláka Calendar for the Year 1925) in 250 limited edition copies at Christmas 1924.
Original hardpaper, tied with ribbon, in later paper case.
