Edward Gibbon (1737–1794) világszerte ismert, máig népszerű történeti munkájának igen korai kiadása. A mű először 1776 és 1789 között jelent meg Londonban. A címlapok verzóján régi gyűjteményi bélyegzés.
Egységes, korabeli, díszesen aranyozott gerincű egészbőr kötésben, festett lapszélekkel, a gerincen a címfelirat világosbarna címkén. A 9. és a 11. kötet gerincén a sorszámozás felcserélve. Dekoratív, szép sorozat.
