Full description

He reports on his negotiations with publisher Heckenast. From the text it emerges that it was about the publication of a work by the addressee’s sister, Stefánia, who was also attempting to write. He regretfully notes that in the uncertain economic situation the publisher does not want to take risks. He advised that they try to come to terms with Geibel, who was willing to undertake the German edition.
The addressee was the first Hungarian woman writer of Jewish descent. Arany supported her from the beginning of his career, even writing a poem for her titled „Wohl Janka emlékkönyvébe” (In Janka Wohl’s Album). Her sister Stefánia also wrote, but her first volume was published only in 1865. No trace has been found of any connection with either Geibel or Heckenast, so the mentioned volume apparently was never published.
