Wilhelm Willinger (1879–1943) was an Austro-Hungarian photographer known for his portrait and theatre photography. Born in Budapest, he ran his first studio there from 1900 before operating a photo agency in Berlin from 1902 to 1918. After the First World War, he opened a studio in Vienna in 1919 together with Hans Schnapper, which he ran alone from 1921 onwards. Willinger specialised in theatre and character portraits and founded important photo and press agencies in Vienna. In 1938, due to the political situation, he emigrated to Shanghai, where he ran a studio until his death in 1943. His work is among the most widely published Austrian photography of the 1920s and 1930s. Further artists and styles: Anton Martin, portrait, portrait photography, Hans Schnapper, Trude Fleischmann, Dora Kallmus (Madame d'Ora), Julius Pasta, Ludwig Angerer, August Stauda, Otto Schmidt
