A szerző a hetedik királyi gyalogosezred századosaként Perzsiában teljesített szolgálatot. Wilbraham „katona-utazóként” bejárta Perzsiát, Törökországot és Oroszország déli tartományait, melyekről útinaplójában is beszámol. Részletes leírásában arra is kitér, hogy az orosz tartományi kormányzók általában nem beszélik a provinciák lakosságának nyelvét. A művet illusztráló képek címei: „The plain and city of Teheran”; „The summer place of Sultaniah”; „The pass of Dariel” és „Summer palace and Moque near Teheran”. A táblák felső széle enyhén foltos.

Korabeli, vaknyomásos, díszesen aranyozott bordó egészmaroquin kötésben, aranyozott lapszélekkel. Gyönyörű példány.
