Full description

“Merci et Bon Chance Sheryl Sutton.” (Thank you and Good Luck Sheryl Sutton.) The stapled booklet announces performances of Robert Wilson and David Byrne’s work The Knee Plays.
Pilinszky first saw Sutton in Paris in July 1971, in Robert Wilson’s play Le Regard du Sourd. Six months later, they met in person—a moment Pilinszky described with great excitement in a letter: “I met the American black girl who is the leading actress in Wilson’s theatre. Yesterday she was here with her fiancé, and the four of us had dinner together at a Chinese restaurant. Life really does hold some fantastic surprises.”
Their encounter and Pilinszky’s fascination with Sutton eventually gave rise to his highly influential book entitled “Beszélgetések Sheryl Suttonnal„ (Conversations with Sheryl Sutton).
