A Kitaibel Pál nyugdjíba vonulásával megüresedett budai egyetemi tanszék és a botanikus kert vezetésével a Helytartótanács a Kitaibelt rövid időre már többször helyettesítő Schustert bízta meg. A kémiában és botanikában egyaránt jártas orvosdoktor (később akadémikus) már 1808-ban kiadott egy „Terminologia Botanicá”-t. Ő volt az első az egyetemi oktatásban, aki szemléltető eszközöket is felhasznált.
A címlapon viaszpecsét. A lapok felül javítva.
