Santelli Italo vívómester nemzetközi vívóakadémiája méltán nyerte el hírnevét. Mestere, a firenzei vívómester nyerte meg az 1895-ben megrendezett első országos vívóversenyt. Ő hamarosan letelepedett Magyarországon és a magyar kardstílus megújítója lett. Clair Vilmos (1858- 1951) újságíró, párbajszakértő nevét párbajkódexével tette ismertté (Párbaj-codex. Megjelent: Bp. 1899.)
