Buda, 1778. Typis Catharinae Landerer. 4 sztl. lev. 86 l. 200 mm.
Sajnovics János (1733-1785), jezsuita pap, egyetemi tanár. Teologus hittudományi tanulmányai mellett foglalkozott a mathematikával és csillagászattal. Két évig Bécsben az udvari csillagvizsgálóban volt alkalmazva Hell Miksa mellett. 1766-ban a nagyszombati csillagvizsgálóhoz Weisz Ferencz jezsuita mellé segédfelügyelőnek rendeltetett. 1768-ban Hell társaként csillagászati megfigyeléseket végzett: a Jegestengeren. A lappföldi küldetés másik jelentős eredménye: a magyar és lapp nyelv hasonlóságát tanulmányozása. (Szinnyei)
Sajnovics csillagászati munkája a korabeli ismeretterjesztő irodalom kiemelkedő darabja.
Korabeli, aranyozott, keménytáblás papírkötésben. Szép példány. Nagyon ritka.
