Autograph letter by Reiner to an unknown recipient.
He apologizes for his late reply, explaining: “This is a dog’s life, my dear! From mid-October to May I conducted about 80 concerts, every week a new program, and in addition, constant travel with the orchestra.” He expresses happiness about the recipient’s recovery, and notes that he will not travel to Italy and thus will not visit Budapest. Reiner played a crucial role in introducing Bartók’s music to American audiences.
