Poloniae Amplissimi Regni Typus Geographicus
Rare map of Poland by Gerard de Jode. First published in the 1578 edition of the "Speculum Orbis Terrae", illustrated with the bust of István Báthory. Our — second state — copy was published in the second edition of the atlas. The publisher, Cornelis de Jode updated the depiction by adding territory borders and recutting the picture of the reigning emperor, Sigismund III (Vasa). The nomenclature is detailed — considering the possibilities available at the time — and the lack of geographical information is covered by illustrations, topographic elements and larger fonts. Latin text and plate number (Fol. 10.) on the back. Dimensions: 380 x 500 (415 x 565) mm. Fine, clean copy.
