A regény valamennyi fejezete egy-egy epizód a havasi pásztor életéből. Ez a csavaros eszű székely góbé, akinek azonban nemcsak az esze, de a szíve is a helyén van, a székely nép sorsát megtestesítő valóságos nemzeti hős.
Korabeli, aranyozott gerincű vászonkötésben, az eredeti fametszetű címlap bekötve. A címlapgrafika Haáz F. Rezső munkája.
