Philip Miller skót származású botanikus, az angol Royal Society
kertészeti társulatának titkára, a Chelsea Physic Garden főkertésze
1721-től egészen haláláig. Árverésünkön szereplő munkája
az egyik leghíresebb műve, annak ellenére, hogy nem használta
a Linné-féle nomenklatura elnevezéseit, azokat csak később, az
1768-as, nyolcadik kiadásban veszi át. Korának számos megbecsült
botanikusával állt kapcsolatban, a Föld számos vidékéről szerzett
be növényeket, melyek közül többet ő honosított meg Angliában.
Korabeli barokk egészbőr kötésben. Jó példány.
