„Makó Pál (1724–1793) a magyar természettudományos oktatás egyik legnagyobb alakja volt. Jezsuita szerzetesként tanított Nagyszombatban, a bécsi Theresianumban, majd a rend feloszlatása után a budai és a pesti egyetemen. Mária Terézia oktatásügyi tanácsadójaként résztvett a íratio Educationis létrehozásában. Tankönyveit külföldön is kiadták és használták. Legjelentősebb műve a „Compendiaria Physicae institutio …” az első korszerű, a newtoni fizika alapján álló hazai fizikatankönyv.” (Közp. Ant. 84. árv.)
A két kötet egységes, korabeli, aranyozott gerincű, valódi bordás egészbőr-kötésben.
