Az Aeneis első magyar fordítója Kovács (Háló) József református prédikátor. Csokonai tanára volt, amiről a kötet utószavában (Egy-két szó az oskolai tanítókhoz) meg is emlékezik. [Három kötetben teljes.] A Magyar Éneis II. része 1804-ben látott napvilágot, míg III. darabját a fordító özvegye 1831-ben Budán jelentette meg.
