Conrad Lycosthenes (eredeti nevén Conrad Wolffhart, 1518-1561) neves elzászi humanista, a XVI. század polihisztorainak egyike. Jelentős görög és latin műveltségre tett szert, de nagy érdeklődést mutatott a különös természeti jelenségek, csodák és égi jelek iránt is, amelyeknek több munkát is szentelt. Ezen művei közül az 1557-ben Bázelben megjelent, fametszetekkel rendkívül gazdagon illusztrált „Prodigiorum ac ostentorum chronicon” című munkája tette nevét igazán ismertté.
Korabeli egészpergamen kötésben, a gerincen tussal írt címfelirattal. Az első kötéstábla felül kissé sérült, ettől eltekintve stabil, jó példány.
