Lillian Birnbaum is an Austrian-American film director and producer as well as photographer. After her first photojournalistic experiences in the 1970s, she began her career from 1982 to 1998 as a photographer for magazines in Europe and the USA, in Germany for example for the magazine of the FAZ and the Stern as well as for the international women‘s magazine Marie Claire. From 1999 to 2009, she was one of the closest collaborators of the Swiss film producer and multiple Oscar winner Arthur Cohn, for whom she acted as artistic advisor Birnbaum made a name for herself as a photographer primarily with portraits, which she published in several photo books.
