Kurt Conrad Loew was an Austrian artist. He started his career as a draftsman in an embroidery factory, and from 1932 he attended an evening course in commercial graphics at the Vienna School of Applied Arts. In 1936 Loew was established as a commercial graphic artist. In 1938 he was arrested as a socialist, A year later he managed to escape to Belgium, where he studied painting with Isidoor Opsomer at the Antwerp Academy in 1939/40. After the conquest of Belgium by the German Wehrmacht, Loew was interned in a concentration camp. In 1942 he was able to escape to Switzerland. 1943-45 Loew studied with Theurillat at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. In 1952 he returned to Wuen. He primarily created genre-like folk scenes, landscapes and street views, but also mosaics and fountains. He also worked as a writer and moral singer. At the end of the 50s he oriented himself towards a surrealist-fantastic line, in the 60s he painted almost exclusively abstractly.
