Első kiadás. A címlap- és kottalitográfia a lipcsei Röder cégnél készült. Dúsan aranyozott, bordázott gerincű sötétzöld egészbőr-kötésben, a belső kötéstábla és az előzéklap lila színű selyemmel borítva, körben aranymetszéssel (a neves angol könyvkötő, Roger de Coverly munkája). Korbay Ferenc (1846–1913) zongoraművész, zeneszerző énekesként kezdte pályáját, 19 évesen már a Nemzeti Színház színpadán állt. 1869-ben Amerikába ment, New Yorkban telepedett le. Zongora- és énekoktatással foglalkozott, majd feleségével, Ravasz Ilona zongoraművésszel zeneiskolát nyitott. A magyar népzene buzgó propagátoraként adta ki népzenei füzeteit, amelyek a jelen kötetben összegyűjtve találhatók. A magyar népzene (népies műdal) kiadványainak egyik legritkább darabja.
