Magyarország legrégibb és a legnagyobb gyűjteménnyel rendelkező állatkertje.
Megnyitásától egészen az 1950-es évekig az első vidéki állatkertek megalapításáig az ország
egyetlen ilyen intézménye volt, tételünk az első képanyag, amelyet publikáltak.
