Az erdélyi reformmozgalom egyik jeles képviselője, számos politikai röpirat szerzője. Ezek egyike ez a mű. Regényírói pályafutása csak az egy évvel később napvilágot látott Abafi című kötettel kezdődött. A szerző első művének első kiadása. Ritka.
