A magyarok történetét Bonfini írta meg a kezdetektől 1496-ig. Pázmány Péter 1605-ben kérte fel Istvánffy Miklós nádori helytartót a folytatás elkészítésére. Istvánffy az 1490-1613. közötti eseményeket dolgozta fel. A mű 1622-ben jelent meg először, ez a második kiadás. Kiadták még 1724-ben és 1758-ban is. Áttekintő jellegű, alapos és részletes munka, máig a XVI. század ismeretének legfontosabb forrása.
Kopott, gerincén megégett, töredezett, korabeli bőrkötésben, közepes állapotban.
