"A „Honvéd“ a demokratikus magyar hadsereg hivatalos lapja és mint ilyen, természetéből kifolyólag mentes kell hogy legyen minden pártpolitikától." (1946. 1. szám) Ekkor már nem Bartha Albert, hanem Dinnyés Lajos a honvédelmi miniszter. A bevezető cikkben ekkor köszöntik április 4-ét a felszabadítás napjának, ami 1950-től vált hivatalos állami ünneppé. Többek között Beleznay István és Csiszár Sándor írásaival.
