A kötet tartalmazza Grotius két, rövidebb művét is: Mare Liberum és De Aequitate, Indulgentia et Facilitate.
Huig de Groot, vagy ismertebb, humanista típusú nevén Hugo Grotius (1583–1645) jogász, politikus. Legfontosabb műve az 1625-ben megjelent, XIII. Lajosnak ajánlott, a háború és béke jogáról szóló munkája (De iure belli ac pacis), melyet száműzetésben írt. Ezt a munkáját a modern nemzetközi jog első rendszeres műveként tartják számon.
A címlapon tintával áthúzott, kézírásos poss. bejegyzés 1818-ból. További poss. Norbertinum Könyvtára (vignetta). Helyenként tintával írt marginália, aláhúzás. Néhány folt, molyrágta lyuk is előfordul, de a szöveget nem érinti.
Korabeli pergamenkötés, a gerincen a szerző neve tintával írva.
