A szerző Bihar vármegye hites mérnöke és a nagyváradi akadémia mértan (földméréstan) tanára. Nevéhez fűződik a XVIII. sz. második fele egyik jelentős vízrendezési munkájának, a Berettyó (1783), a Körösök (1789–1797), a Köles-ér rendezésének (1789), ill. a Csökmő melletti terület vízmentesítésének végrehajtása (1773). 1785-ben más tiszántúli területek vízrendezésére is megbízást kapott. Térképészeti működése is számottevő. Mérnöki munkásságának elismeréséül 1809-ben nemességet kapott. Aukciónkon szereplő egyet-len nyomtatásban megjelent művében a folyószabályzásról összegyűjtött sokéves tapasztalatait foglalta össze.
