Bust portrait of Prince Bethlen in an ornate baroque frame, with his motto Consilio firmata Dei above and, below, a roundel containing the family, Transylvanian, and eagle arms. One plate from a three-part series by the renowned Nuremberg engraver Lucas Kilian, who also engraved Frederick V, Elector Palatine, and Emperor Matthias. The likeness served as the model for later prints.
Dimensions: 255 × 205 mm. Trimmed and mounted on contemporary paper.
With:
Gabriel Bethlen D. G. Princeps Transsylvaniae, part. regni Hungariae d(omi)n(u)s et Siculorum comes, &c. Aetatis suae XXXX. Ao. Christi M. DC. XX.
A simpler version of the same portrait by Lucas Kilian, with the text inscribed on a ribbon around the bust.
Dimensions: 180 × 135 mm.

Gabriel Bethlen D. G. Princeps Transsilvaniae princeps, partium Ungariae regni d(omi)n(u)s et Siculorum comes.
Bust of Prince Bethlen, engraved by Abraham Hogenberg (Cologne, 1627). Here the prince faces left, holding a different type of mace. Title in a border ribbon, with motto beneath.
