A népművészeti tárgyú exlibrisek, a magyaros díszítő elemek és ősmagyar motívumok (pl. kopjafa, rovásírás stb.) gyűjtése mindig is népszerűnek bizonyult, de az utóbbi két évtizedben érezhetően felerősödött, reneszánszét éli. Erre utal többek között az is, hogy a Kisgrafika Barátok Köre például 1996-ban „1100 éves a magyar népművészet” címmel hirdetett kisgrafikai és exlibris pályázatot, melyre 80 alkotás érkezett be.
