London, 1828. John Murray. XXIV + 572 + XLIV [helyesen XLIII] + [5] p. + 13 t. (rézmetszet, ebből 2 kézzel színezett, 9 akvatinta, abból egy kihajtható) + 9 térkép (rézmetszet, ebből 1 kihajtható) + errata. Első kiadás.
Frederic William Beechey 1818-ban John Franklin Lieutenant szolgálatában vett részt David Buchan északi-sarki expedíciójában, amelyről beszámolóját évekkel később publikálta is. 1819-ben szintén Lieutenant kísérője volt az izlandi Hekla vulkánra szervezett Parry-expedícióban. 1821-ben, William Henry Smyth admirális irányítása alatt vett részt Afrika északi partvidéke egy részének feltérképezésében. Testvérével, Henry William Beechey-vel készítette el e terület részletes, mindenre kiterjedő leírását, melyet rendkívül dekoratív látképekkel, és igen részletes térképekkel illusztrálva jelentettek meg közösen e műben. Példányunkban a kihajtható térkép, és a kihajtható tábla vászonra vonva.

XX. századi, korabeli stílusban készült, díszesen aranyozott gerincű félbőr kötésben, felül aranyozott lapszélekkel. Nagyon jó példány, ritka könyv.
