Harci cselekményben először 1914. decemberében volt része; ugyanebben a hónapban sikeres torpedótámadást hajtott végre a francia Jean Bart csatahajó ellen. 1915. augusztus 8-án tengeralattjárója Velence közelében aknára futott, aminek következtében a hajó a teljes legénységgel együtt odaveszett. Eredeti fotó, feliratozva, sarkán minimális sérüléssel, 23x17 cm / cca 1914-1915 Egon Lerch (1886-1915), lieutenant (Linienschiffsleutnant) of the Austro-Hungarian Navy (K. u. k. Kriegsmarine). He served as commander of the U-12 submarine, from August 1914 until his death. As its commander, he first saw combat in December 1914; in the same month, he performed a successful torpedo strike against the French battleship Jean Bart. On 8 August 1915, his submarine hit a naval mine, resulting in the loss of the boat and its entire crew. Original photo, with description at the bottom, with minimal damage on the corner, 23x17 cm
