Full description

Pesten, 1845. (Trattner és Károlyi ny.) 2pl(s). (frontispiece of Palatine István + lithographed title page)+XVI+424+(4)p.+20 folding pl(s). (1 coloured).
The author, a hussar lieutenant, wrote the first Hungarian handbook of horse breeding, following the 1786 German translation of Markus Fugger’s treatise. His work first appeared in 1828 under the title A Nemzeti Lovag az az A’ Lótudomány’ vizsgáló isméretére vezérlő rendszeres oktatás (The National Knight: A Systematic Guide to the Study of Horse Science), the same year as Széchenyi’s Lovakrul (On Horses). This is its revised edition. At the end, the appendix plates were issued with a separate green wrapper, also present here.
Signed, black leather, with white title on spine. The covers decorated with four leather inlays depicting horsemen in different colours. In hardpaper case.
Dimensions: 225 × 160 mm.
