Paris, 1822. Verdiére. (4)+VIII+560+8p., (4)+614p., (4)+659p., (4)+4p.+1 folding appx(s).+7 folding, coloured pl(s).+7 folding map(s) (4 coloured).
Description of the mineralogy and geology of Hungary. The author, a member of the French Academy and university professor, came to Hungary in 1818 on a study tour commissioned by the French court. His research results were published in three volumes, accompanied by the present atlas containing geological cross-sections and large-scale maps. Among the beautifully hand-coloured plates are the first geological maps of Hungary and Transylvania, alongside depictions of Lake Balaton and Selmecbánya.
Contemporary half leather with marbled endpapers. Spine richly gilt.
