The main work of the Shkodra-born humanist historian, Marin Barleti is the story of the Albanian prince, Gjergj Kastrioti’s (commonly known as Skanderbeg) life. He was Hunyadi's ally and the hero of the battles against the Turks. It was first published in Rome in about 1510, then translated into several languages, and it received numerous editions.
