Gróf Andrássy Géza az Andrássy-féle vasművek tulajdonosa volt, amit utóbb eladott a Rimamurányi-Salgótarjáni Vasmű Rt.-nak, ahol igazgatósági tag lett. Főrendiházi, majd felsőházi képviselő. Az ő nevéhez fűződik a lovaspóló magyarországi meghonosítása. Ismert sportvezető, a Magyar Athletikai Club elnöke volt. Az Athleta-bálra küldött meghívót rajta kívül aláírta a társelnök, a főtitkár, az alelnök és a bálelnök is.
