A magnificent travel account of the Middle and Far East, illustrated with 16 hand coloured lithographs. Count Manó Andrássy set off for his famous journey in 1849 after the crush of the Hungarian revolution. This is the first edition. It was later published in German, English, and French as well. The large lithographs depict a very early view of Hong Kong, a view of Calcutta, hunting scenes, dancing groups and Arabic life scenes. In original gilt cloth binding, the plates are at places very slightly stained, altogether a fine copy.
