Címlapján a szerző tintával írt sorai ismeretlennek.
A szerző (1909-1969) ciszterci szerzetes – a Julián nevet 1927-ben vette fel. Teológiai tanulmányaival párhuzamosan a Pázmány Péter Egyetem Bölcsészkarán, magyar–latin szakon is tanult. 1934-ben doktorált, cum laude eredménnyel. Doktori értekezését (tételünk) Kaffka Margitról írta, akárcsak ugyanebben az évben Radnóti Miklós.
Korabeli, egyszerű fekete félvászon kötésben.
